NBBC's 106th Season Officially Opens
After months of planning and weeks of preparation by our community of volunteers, NBBC's 106th summer season officially got underway on Saturday June 13th. Last year, our mission hosted scores of camper children from nine different groups who all raved about their Barr Camp Weeks on Lake Geneva! This year our Children's Program has expanded and is set to host ten groups with even more activities, including the addition of Kayaks to our Waterfront Program. We invite you to learn more about our camp's facilities and history by exploring this site.

Meet The 2015 Staff

This Season's NBBC Camp Staff may look very familiar and that's because they are! Nearly everyone on this year's staff has returned or they have been a resident of Barr Camp in the past. Under the direction of our new Manager, Bill Tarver and our new Assistant Manager, Carolyne Luna, the camp is operating at peak efficiency and looks great.

NBBC Introduces Guest Artist Program for Campers

Art is in the air this season as NBBC introduces a new Guest Artist program for campers and cottager children. Art sessions are held both indoors and outdoors, and the children are taught techniques by a professional visiting artist each week, focusing on different types and aspects of landscapes and other subjects. The results from some of our "art students" are amazing!

"By The Hand" Has Fun As Our 2nd Group of the Summer

The By The Hand Group returned to NBBC this season and enjoyed a slightly less "wet" week with us. This group really took to the water with our new Kayaking Program enjoying several outings on the lake. Other activities included outdoor Art Classes along the lakefront, a terrific Talent Show, and fun on the Sports Court. Everyone truly enjoyed their Barr Camp Week!

"Boys & Girls Clubs of Dundee" 1st Group of the Summer

Our first group of Camper Children for the 2015 Season were new to NBBC, as we welcomed the Boys & Girls Club of Dundee, who enjoyed their time with us, in spite of the rainy weather that prevailed for most of the week. This hardy group managed to have a lot of fun on the lakefront in between rain showers, and were the first group to experience our new Kayak program. Their maiden voyage was successful as seen in the photos below.

NBBC Successfully Launches New Kayak Program

This year NBBC introduced Water Kayaks to enhance our Children's Program, allowing our campers to experience the beauty of Lake Geneva from an offshore perspective. On Tuesday evening June 16th, NBBC's "Maiden Kayak Voyage" took place as our trained staff of counselors, volunteers and campers braved the somewhat rough waters and enjoyed an evening of kayaking along the nearby shoreline of camp. A cool but splendid "cruise" was enjoyed by all.

This year's Children's Program Staff is top notch and all set to provide our guest campers with an array of Activities, Adventure and Fun. This diverse group of young people bring with them multifaceted backgrounds and an energy to provide insights, interests and guidance to our campers!

We welcome them to NBBC!

NBBC Volunteers Arrive In Force
On the weekend of May 1st, Barr Camp hosted the 11th Annual Men's Work Weekend.

View Highlights from Men's Work Weekend

The official kickoff of the 2015 season, the event set one of the highest attendance records in it's history. Much was accomplished as more than two dozen volunteers arrived and participated in work projects that included the painting of the Children's Craft Building and portions of the Camp Lodge, repairs to three cottages, the installation of a Safety Railing, and many miscellaneous tasks, during the three day event.

NBBC's Need Continues In 2015
In order to continue to provide economically disadvantaged children and those with special needs with totally free summer camp experiences, our camp has become increasingly dependent upon the generosity of individuals outside of our operation for donations of goods, services and funding. NBBC has successfully operated this way for over a century.
