NBBC Celebrates New Lakefront
The 2016-2017 "off season" brought a major transformation to NBBC's Lakefront, including the replacement of the 75+ year old Seawall, a total restoration to our century old Pavilion and the addition of a new Beach! These changes have refined our waterfront appearance, while creating a safer environment, allowing our camper children easier access to the lake, particularly for those who are beginning swimmers. The Seawall / Beach portion of the project was managed by camp volunteer Tim Hanafee and was underwritten by a grant from Verizon, presented by Carolyn Schamberger on the corporation's behalf. The Pavilion Restoration's new updated style was created, designed and built by Ray Johnson, thanks to the generosity of the Sergenian family. Our thanks to all of the many volunteers who also participated in restoring our lakefront into a pristine and beautiful environment for all to enjoy.
Beach Party Kicks Off New Season!
On Saturday, June 17th, NBBC held the inaugural event on the new beach, with a party for all ages. Hot Dogs, Snow Cones, Cotton Candy and Ice cream were served and enjoyed by all. Events were held for the children, including Beach Ball Races and Sand Castle Building Contests, while summer time music played in the background, creating the perfect atmosphere for the celebration. It will most likely be the first of many such events to be held "on the beach" at NBBC!
Sunday Church Service on the Lakefront.
The new Norman B. Barr Camp Beach was dedicated at a special lakefront church service led by Rob Eppley, with Jim Carstens on the keyboard and special music provided by Levi Harrison (grandson of Bart & Leslie Pace). As part of the service, the beach was dedicated by Donna Johnson, in memory of Roy Balder, Sr. She offered a special Prayer of Dedication, along with gracious thanks to the major contributors; the Verizon Corporation and the Sergenian Family.

NBBC's 2017 Summer Staff

Introducing Our 2017 Camp Staff
NBBC is lucky to again welcome back many employees from last season for another great summer. Under the direction of veteran managers Bill Tarver and Cindy Reiland (co-managers this year), most of the staff is familiar and recognizable, some having been here for numerous summers (they must really like it here)! We also welcome some new faces and hope that you'll introduce yourselves to them and make them feel welcome.

Children's Program Staff
Once again, this year's counselors are top notch providing our campers with an array of activities, adventure and FUN! This diverse group of young people, lead by our Program Director Megan, (back for her third year with us), include Alex from DeKalb, Courtney from St. Louis, Joe from Naperville and Tyler from North Carolina.
We welcome them to our camp family!

NBBC's Need Continues
During the past few summer's, NBBC's Camper Program has expanded and made great strides. The summer of 2015 introduced Kayaks to our Waterfront and visits from "The Science Guy". Plus, NBBC added a visiting artist program and entertaining magician to the mix of activities. The summer of 2016 brought even more new programs including the extremely popular traveling "Reptile Show". This summer will be no exception to the past as we have more new and exciting programs and activities planned including "Paper Sculpting"!

Providing economically disadvantaged children and those with special needs with totally free summer camp experiences would not be possible without the generosity of individuals and companies outside of our operation. They have assisted our efforts through donations of goods, services and funding.
